Privacy policy

This describes what the site actually does with your data, written against how it is built rather than from a template.

The short version

What we collect

Your email address

Required to use the tool. We use it to sign you in via a one-time link, to track your 5,000-word free balance against your account, and to contact you about the service if we ever need to. We do not send marketing email.

The text you submit — not retained

When you run a check, your text is transmitted to the watermark detection service, the result is returned, and the text is discarded. It is not written to our database and not written to our logs. We cannot show you the text of a past check, because we do not have it.

We do keep, per check: the number of words, the time it ran, which detector was used, and the verdict returned. That is what lets you see your usage and lets us enforce the free limit.

Technical data

Messages you send us

If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you provide are emailed to us so we can reply. They are not added to any mailing list.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of services to run the site. Each processes only what it needs to:

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the services above.

How long we keep things

Deleting your account

Email us via the contact form and we will delete your account and its usage history. Be aware that deleting an account also clears the record of how many free words you have used, so we may decline repeat deletion-and-signup cycles that exist only to reset the free allowance.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Since the only personal data we hold is your email address and your usage counts, most of these requests are quick to satisfy. Ask through the contact form.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially — particularly anything that would make the "we do not store your text" commitment less true — we will update this page and the date below.
